02 / Key facts

In one paragraph

Mirror Fractal Codec is the first shipping product of the Mirror Fractal Method — a unified mathematical framework for hierarchical binary decomposition, protected by US Provisional Patent #64/034,974 covering eight inventions across compression, protocols, and AI memory. The codec compresses neuromorphic event-camera streams losslessly with no neural network and no GPU.

Compression
47.6× mean on N-MNIST, 60 000 samples · 9.2× on DSEC automotive
Bits per event
1.51 on N-MNIST · 7.85 on DSEC
Latency
0.55 ms per N-MNIST sample (native) · ~8× slower in single-threaded browser WASM
Architecture
Pure Rust core, no neural network, no GPU, no training set, no model checkpoint
Patent
US Provisional #64/034,974 filed 10 April 2026 · USPTO Micro Entity · 8 inventions
Distribution
Python wheel on PyPI (mfc-codec, cp311) · browser WASM · commercial Rust core, CLI, server, C ABI under licence
Datasets verified
N-MNIST · DSEC (Zurich automotive) · synthetic high-resolution to 1280×720

03 / Founder

Aleksei Solonskii

Aleksei founded Mirror Fractal Lab in Valencia to commercialise a unified framework for hierarchical binary decomposition. He filed the first US provisional patent covering eight inventions of the Method on 10 April 2026. The codec is the first to ship; quantisation (MFQ), progressive containers (FRAC), streaming protocols (FQL), and encrypted AI memory (MirrorMind) follow.

04 / How to write about MFC

Style notes

A few small things journalists often ask about.

  • Capitalisation. "Mirror Fractal Method" and "Mirror Fractal Codec" — both words capitalised. The product short form is MFC in caps.
  • Lossless. The codec is bit-exact — decoded events are identical to the input. Please don't write "near-lossless" or "high quality".
  • Patent status. US Provisional #64/034,974, filed 10 April 2026, USPTO Micro Entity. Twelve months until non-provisional / PCT filing.
  • Internals. The Rust source stays private pending the patent grant. Public surface: paper, container spec, API, benchmarks, browser WASM. We can answer "what" but not "how" on the algorithm itself.
